Who publishes FAITH Magazine?

Most Rev. Carl F. Mengeling, is publisher of FAITH Publishing Service. Rev. Dwight Ezop is Chairman of the Board of Directors and Editor in Chief. FAITH was started as a diocesan magazine for Lansing, Michigan in 2000. Since that time, many diocesan bishops from across the county use FAITH Publishing Service and the proven the FAITH Magazine format for their official diocesan publications. Now FAITH is being made available for parishes.

FAITH mission:

“To present a personality of Jesus and His Church that people relate to.”

FAITH editorial approach:

Each issue of FAITH Magazine is designed to evangelize. In order for an individual to be open to the Gospel message, FAITH sets clear editorial objectives:

1) The core of FAITH is personal faith stories: Each issue explores how everyday people are living out the Gospel. Each story shows some element of conversion – how this person came closer to Christ through a specific experience.

2) FAITH focuses on the positive not hot button issues: FAITH is not Crisis magazine or America magazine. It is more of a Catholic version of People magazine or Life magazine. Why is this distinction important? FAITH’s editorial approach is to connect with people on a basic level – our faith. FAITH does not ignore critical topics of our time, rather we use individual personal stories to inform and inspire. For example, instead of an essay about the evil of abortion, FAITH features a woman who made that terrible mistake. Her inspirational story of conversion makes the case for life in such a compelling way. Now, she has adopted many children and speaks about the mistake she made and the importance of the Catholic faith in her conversion. FAITH feature the couples who saved their marriage after being on the brink of divorce. FAITH features the health care worker who finds dignity in the terminally ill. FAITH puts a face on these issues. FAITH inspires us to live out our FAITH both in word and action.

3) FAITH columns focus on both a person’s life: FAITH’s columns focus on marriage, work and parenting as well as Catholic theology and spirituality. FAITH uses what works with the secular media – how-to columns on how to improve your marriage or effectiveness at work with practical advice and insights. But, unlike the secular media, FAITH includes the Gospel perspective and the teachings of the Church.

4) FAITH looks at the world from a Catholic perspective: FAITH publishes national and world news from a Catholic perspective. FAITH also engages our popular culture with exclusive interviews with movie stars, authors and musicians. FAITH bridges the gap between our secular and Catholic culture.
